Burundi is one of the poorest countries in the world. Poverty is widespread: 90–95 percent of the population living on less than $2 per day. Furthermore, less than one-third of Burundi’s population has enough food to eat throughout the year. As a result, nearly 60% of Burundi’s population is chronically malnourished.
Through our Animal Husbandry program, we empower local households to increase their household revenues by providing cows, pigs, goats, rabbits, chickens, and ducks to raise and sell at local markets.
